The Monkey House is Bolt's second establishment, after opening our DTLA Flagship in 2009. Founder Mohawk Matt, himself a victim of corporate insignificance, had his "concept" for Bolt Barbers inked as a full back piece tattoo onto his skin in 2008, as a gesture of "consumer understanding" learnt from his corporate past. A full oil portrait of Mohawk's "concept board" hangs above the dude greeters octagonal at our DTLA Flagship.
Bolt Barbers was voted Best Barbershop in DTLA by The Downtown News in 2011 & again in 2012 by its readers.
Bolt's mission is stirring the art of old school barbering for the enjoyment and benefit of dudes aged 7-70 while creating community and encouraging dudes to just be themselves. And we're here in West Hollywood creating community one dude at a time. That's because we're a third place for dudes to hang after the highly defined roles played at home and work/school.
